To awaken quite alone in a strange town
is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.

I had a quick stay in this charming little town, but that did not deter me from making the most of it.  If you're ever in Bruges, I recommend starting your day with a hired bicycle and brekkie - bagels or Belgian waffles, anyone?  The city is yours to explore, and I promise you it will not disappoint. Every alleyway and corner exudes character and colour.  It's nothing short of magical.

We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.

I have a particular affinity for doors + windows. I feel as if they are to houses as eyes are to humans. Storytellers. Secret-holders.

The best part about Bruges is how easy-going the city is. You can wander the streets of brick houses with lion door knockers and pretty window boxes or head out for a stroll in the countryside - the world is quiet and untouched. And yours.

From windmills and castles to chocolate and beer, Bruges teems with culture and charm. And I would be remiss to not mention Belgian frites. I couldn't find a photo of those most likely because photography was the last thing on my mind as I devoured the best version of fries (w/frite sauce!) I've ever tasted. I could easily live a happy, fulfilled life wandering the streets eating frites and chocolate every day.

Let’s not travel to tick things off lists
or collect half hearted semi treasures to be placed
in dusty drawers in empty rooms.
Rather, we’ll travel to find grounds and rooftops
and tiny hidden parks, where we’ll sit
and dismiss the passing time, spun in the city’s web
’til we’ve surrendered, content to be spent and consumed.
